Super Bowl Mocha Brownies

For this recipe, I took my favorite brownie recipe and added some cinnamon and coffee to make them mocha brownies. Then I cut the brownies into football shapes and put laces on them using confectioner's sugar glaze.  Too cute and too yummy!

Super Bowl Mocha Brownies
3 1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter (I use salted butter.)
4 TB water
4 eggs
4 tsp. vanilla extract
2 2/3 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 cup baking cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. instant coffee
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp. water

Icing
1 cup confectioner's sugar
Several drops of water

You are only a few ingredients away from pure deliciousness!

Stir together sugar, butter and water.  Add in eggs and vanilla.  Add flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt to the wet mixture.

You will find it hard to do anything else but smell this stuff once it is mixed!

In a separate small bowl or ramekin, combine coffee, cinnamon and 1 Tbsp water.  Mix well and add to the brownie mixture. Spray a large 16 x 12 x 1 baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.  Spread brownie mixture into the pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.  Cool in pan.

My beat up pan just means I have cooked a lot, right?

Now, the fun part!  Use your football cookie cutter to cut out football shapes in your brownies once they have cooled. Make sure to test the configuration you will cut before you do it so you will insure you will be using as much of the brownies as possible with minimal waste.  Press your shapes into your brownies.

Footballs!

Using a sharp knife, cut along your shape lines to ensure the lines are cut all the way down to the bottom of the pan.  Using a spatula, remove the footballs carefully.  Save the leftover "waste" of your brownies for individual trifles with pudding and whipped cream, if you want.  Double yum!

Mix confectioner's sugar with a few drops of water at a time to make a thick icing.  Remember, you can always add moisture, but you can't take it out.  Put the icing in a small plastic resealable bag.  Cut a tiny hole in the edge of the bag and pipe laces onto the footballs.

These football will be sure to impress your guests as well as your family.  Calories don't count on Super Bowl Sunday, right?  I won't tell if you won't tell.  Enjoy and have fun!
