It's tip time!
If you are like me, you want to have a great looking party but without a great big price. I have been using this trick for years, and it has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years.
This is the trick. Buy one pack of your theme plates and fill in the rest with generic
Let's take Thanksgiving plates, for example. I would buy one package only of the more expensive plates and then fill in with a complimentary color. Using this plate as an example, you could use yellow, green, red, orange or brown as your complimentary color.
Packages of themed plates for birthdays, holidays or even for special parties like the Super Bowl can be anywhere from $3 to $5 a pack. The Dollar Store or Wal Mart sell solid-colored plates and napkins for $1 a pack.
This is where your savings comes in! You can buy only one pack or two of the theme plates, but fill in the rest with accent colors. Try to get a theme plate which has lots of colors to give you lots of choices on what your accent colors can be.
You can do the same thing with your napkins. You can have one color, several or even a color which is a complementary color as in a black and white napkin with a red solid-color napkin to add a little pop.
There it is! This simple tip can save you probably at least $20 or more per party. Also, the solid-colored napkins or plates you don't use can be used again to mix and match with your next party or theme. Happy partying!
