I have also had friends who have served this up warm as a dessert with some ice cream. I prefer it as a breakfast item, but you can choose how you would want to use it.
Also, I have put this together the night before, stored it in the refrigerator, and baked it up in the morning. It just takes a little bit longer to bake since it is colder so just extend the baking time for a little bit longer.
|Cream Cheese Danish|
2 pkg. crescent rolls
2 pkg. cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 cup butter
3 tablespoons sugar
Grease a 13 x 9 pan. Layer 1 can of crescent rolls along the bottom of the pan pinching the seams together.
Mix cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, egg and vanilla together until smooth. Spread evenly over first crescent roll layer. Layer another can of crescent rolls on top being careful to pinch seams together.
Pour on melted butter. Use a pastry brush to spread the butter out evenly. Sprinkle sugar on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool and cut into squares.
You can make these with less fat by using reduced fat crescent rolls, fat free cream cheese and/or no butter. I have made it in a variety of ways, and it always turns out good.
